By the sea [17.01.2012 Valencia – Spain] we follow by the sea, and still without time to rest more than enough at least to let the heart turn you into a graceful memory.

Gràcies [16.01.2012 Barcelona – Spain] Is it possible to choose whom rises to your vessel not to leave anymore? If here lays all one remembers, it’s also where all one cannot forget sleeps. So we are in an equal measure all we are and all we wanted to be. In construction. In permanent construction. Like the Sacred Family, that is wrapped with this machinery that builds the dream in a public backstage since there’s memory it. And it rests so far away from what it was when it was but a silent sketch. What strange sea is this that does not hold a grudge towards me in the abandonment. We find Barcelona in the company of the best travel companions, Dani and Elena, that know the streets as we know the tides. And this city seems to have found us…

The fall of Augustus Caesar [14.01.2012 Zaragoza – Spain] There are places where farewell is an impossible thing, for with eyes we leave behind follow our every step. These are the pitfalls that our memory returns as we sail back into the ports we left behind; the faithful promise of return. The city streets are as familiar to me as if I had never left them while the horizon was proceeding with its story. By the time we arrive, the Avenue of this Caesar is but silence and absence of people and tar. And if this city was not an eternal surprise every time we hold our moorings here, we would have had an empty room waiting for us. For while gathered in our silence, the room flooded with sailors until there was no more space left in this vessel. T’was  a sweet silence; this that they came to offer us. How does one return to the places one never truly left?

A estranha valsa [12.01.2012 Oviedo – Espanha]

Gracias.
João Rui
The strange waltz [12.01.2012 Oviedo – Espanha] The hands of the sun have no knowledge of how to accompany us in this dance, where the dark mist forgot the turns its dress would have to give so he could know the floor of this saloon. But by the door of this strange waltz in between the hills, the warmth of Oviedo’s eyes was waiting for us. Gracias.

The invisible line of the frontier [10.01.2012 A Coruña – Espanha] We’re back on the road that takes us far away from this sea, crossing a frontier that can’t separate the taste of the earth anymore – maybe it might have never succeeded in doing so and it was nothing but a mere line badly drawn on the old maps where they divided what could never be. They told of the cold that would find a good way to break my bones here, but maybe the tower of Hercules took the ground and turned it into impossible. For neither the wind or the cold came to wake me where I slept, near the whispers of the birds nested by the window of my room.

Indian Ink [31.08.2011 Viseu] In the wings of this garden of neon lights we have come to find the fingers that draw the future hidden among repeated words. The hands, still black with the Indian ink with which he plots the future, receives a pair of words more that will belong to him as well. And in that movement there is more than one could imagine.

Ainda.

A Sangria de Agosto [13.08.2011 Fundão] Tonight the past came here to find memory of what I no longer am. I know not why or how he left from me: forever we will be strangers whose eyes cross somewhere between the hate of the promise and the forgiveness of what was stolen. So I gave him the wolf. The one of the roots. Still. João Rui

A reconstrução [09.07.2011 Torres Novas]

Obrigado...

The reconstruction [09.07.2011 Torres Novas] Without another place to run to from this invasion, we decided to leave for high seas, to rebuild what was of that ill forgotten past – and to each tower of this castle we did come to leave a song so we wouldn’t lose ourselves from this house. Thank You… João Rui

Crooked John [20.06.2011 Viseu]

Crooked John
(a Jigsaw)

I heard my wings whispering so low
Where did you hide last night?
It was the wind my dears
It was its darkness that kept me away

Oh my, oh crooked John
Come the sunset, we will be gone

I poured my madness and desire
Into thy perfect wretched mold
I gave you my voice, my love, my fear
If it must be, then I’ll crawl beneath these wings

Oh my, oh crooked John
Oh my, oh crooked John
Come the sunset and we’ll be gone

Was my death not enough to scare those little birds that flew with me?
Was my death not enough to scare those little birds that flew with me?
Then ravens, ravens they must be

Oh my, oh crooked John
Oh my, oh crooked John
Was my death not enough?

Oh my, oh crooked John
Oh my, oh crooked John
Come the sunset and you will be gone

The seizure of the sea [17.06.2011 Figueira da Foz] Here, right by your side, I forgot to visit you. Was it the sudden change of clouds? Is there really anything that prevents me from falling into the first wave, even if she does not know the return? The worst that I can not imagine would be returning to firm land without knowing what that is.

When the fingers break [10.06.2011 Braga] The sweat of the afternoon wraps itself around the strings in the afternoon so it can break them in the night; as if in perfect harmony there was only one note in dissonance with every other, and decided to whisper its absence to the heart moments before its death throe: we will soon be one. Until when will the fingers ignore this possibility? Maybe they will forget while the good Lord keeps his hands resting on my my hands that are resting on the strings - but what if what I have left is just his absence and am merely confusing palaces with ruins? So, it's as though as if what could kill us had already passed through us and we only had left this fight with hope, in the anteroom of disillusionment.
We climbed the metal stairs to the stage where the silence of Braga awaited us and everything became fire in an even darker voice than this. João Rui

Lisboa e o Plano [04.06.2011 Lisboa]

Lisboa and the Plan [04.06.2011 Lisboa] It is time again to rest the fingers upon the strings of bliss and tear the heart from the chest. And still, even if it was otherwise, he would know how and where to plan his escape. It is in that absence that we realize the black silence that hides behind each word.

The reason of my mother [06.05.2011 Portalegre] From the balcony of the CAEP I’m watched by the ruins and the towers of the city; and the chimneys only deliver the smoke of memory. Robinson. One year has passed since the last time we were here on the run; without time to know the streets, the faces – the silences of this city. I said farewell as if the return was not possible; as if I thought my mother’s reason was a fantasy. But it was not. And Portalegre, land of wolves like us, kept a smile to offer me today.

The paper birds [29.04.2011 Zaragoza - Espanha] - This is a road I already know; that has already told me its secrets and knows I have kept them well. But today, paper birds stacked upon electric dreams came to visit me by the window. The eyes sweep the Monegros looking for you – maybe today thou art paper wings or the wind beneath them. We enter Zaragoza by the river, where lions with stone teeth still carved in the soft skin watch over our steps as we find the old embrace of this city. By the door of Lata de Bombillas, where we went to leave our heart, I heard the fall of your feathers in my hands. João Rui.

No oblidem [28.04.2011 Barcelona – Espanha]

Don’t Forget [28.04.2011 Barcelona – Espanha] We return to another country within another country, I have a feeling that we are the same: our heart is a country within another. And he is always at war or in a peace of silence and poison – this one who finding himself without his independence sees himself stolen of it. And when I know how to tell that thief that the little he is stealing is all I have left, it will be too late to offer him that I had left.

L'absence et délire [23.04.2011 Trébeurdent – França] – it is a strange hour, this when we offer shelter to the delirum of which we were both lovers and preys. It’s the conscience of the madness with which we allow the absence of our certainty of departure.

The eternity of Silence [22.04.2011 Guingamp – France] The night does not know our sleep; not entirely. Or maybe she does not understand it. And so, as silhouettes of autumn, we go through Spain towards France in the long hours this evening. We find here a country within another country: Brittany. Fif, the helmsman of this boat tells me, with eyes still passionate for our Oporto, tells me that Brittany and Portugal are the same: not a path nor a passage, but a destination. To us it has been in itself also an harbour; a departure and an arrival - an elusive target for whom no longer belongs to anywhere. And so, we took the stage of this country as if it was the last concert; as if the blood abandoned us in a blast and what followed was the eternity of silence.

Of Faith [21.04.2011 Santander - Espanha] - What if all the boats of this harbour suddenly parted this instant; this night… Who would take care of these prayers that we came to deliver? We follow this slow march in each chord. As if we were part of it. As if we could not be so. João Rui
